You can Lose weight with Xylitol, which is a sugar free sweetener you can add to your food. Xylitol has been around for more than 40 years and is very popular as a sugar free sweetener in chewing gum.

Xylitol is a “one-for-one” sugar substitute, meaning for every cup or teaspoon of sugar you use instead one cup or teaspoon of Xylitol. I’m a type II diabetic, so I’ve probably tried or eaten just about everything sugar free there is in the grocery store. Besides Nutrasweet or Spenda, the most popular fake sweetener I’ve sen used in cookies and candy is “Sorbitol”. It’s not only not the greatest tasting sweetener, but Sorbitol has an unwanted after-effect. In many people if you eat too much it gives you diarrhea. When I go to the store I now stay away from any food that contains sorbitol in the ingredients. It has different effects on different people, but if I eat just one piece of candy or one cookie containing it I’ll start having massive gas for hours. If I eat half a dozen pieces….well – we just won’t talk about that.

The difference between Xylitol and other sugar substitute sweeteners is the fact that it has a real health benefit that none of the others do. It was found in the 70′s that Xylitol actually kills bacteria. It not only kills bacteria, but over time in strengthens the enamel on your teeth – which is why Xylitol was in the very first chewing gum in the world in Finland in 1975.

Nowadays you can find Xylitol in all kinds of things, such as nasal washes and mouth care products. When you use Xylitol it doesn’t change your blood sugar or glucose level in any way, and that coupled with the fact that it tastes nearly exactly like sugar with no aftertaste means that it SHOULD be manufacturers first choice for sugar substitue. I believe since it’s more expense – they choose cheaper substitutes at our expense.

The first time I bought Xylitol was in a health food store, and I paid $8.99 for a very small bag – I think a half pound? Since – I’ve found that you can buy it on eBay from reputable health suppliers in larger quantities at less cost.

This is my review of Alli diet pills. In the last year Alli has been hyped quite a bit. These are FDA approved diet pills, and Alli has come into the spotlight mainly because they have some guidelines you have to follow in order to use them.

Alli diet pills are over the counter, and basically a lesser version of the prescription diet pill Xenical or “Orlistat”. Alli is half the strength of it’s prescription counter-part, and the first government approved over the counter diet pill. Alli is a fat blocker, and with most of these types of pills, with a healthy diet about 25% of your fat intake is expelled from your body daily as you go to the bathroom. If you eat a less fatty diet, then the side effects that come with Alli are lessened dramatically.

Basically, if you don’t eat health and indulge in really fatty foods – Alli can cause you to have some oily discharge and (they say in some cases) leakage! This is probably why Alli has gotten so much media coverage, the fact that…well, if you don’t do what you’re supposed to you can poop yourself! It’s not designed to be used more than 6-12 months, and from what I’ve read typical weight loss is from a few pounds per month to 5-6+ depending on your diet. Most people seemed able to do that without any exercise at all.

In my “slim shots review’ we’ll discuss the high and low points of those tiny little coffee creamer appetite suppresants you can now buy at Walgreen’s and Wal-Mart that were previously only “As Seen On TV”. Do they work? Can you really lose weight? Let’s find out…

Slim Shots are marketed as an “appetite controller”. It’s funny that these are marketed as little coffee creamer type “shots” instead of a pill like most of the rest on market (although there is SlimFast and a bunch of other “skinny shakes”). First of all, they are touted as being “all natural”, but they contain artificial vanilla flavoring. Secondly, the main ingredients are Palm Oil, Oat Oil, water, and that added flavoring. The key to losing weight with these is of course not eating as much because they help you not be as hungry. But, they say you should take these coupled with an exercise and healthy diet plan. Who’s to say if you do that the weight loss isn’t just from the diet and exercise?

The first thing I wonder is why on earth they chose to put Palm Oil in these, it’s such a highly saturated fat that it’s considered a “solid fat”. Is the connection the fact that by putting that in these slim shots the fat will cause you to not be be hungry? I don’t get it. The Oat Oil is usually an ingredient you see in products promoting smooth skin – I don’t get that either. One shot is about 20 calories, and a 30 day supply (30 shots) is about $40. Some people that have reviewed these have said they need two per day in the beginning, so your cost would be doubled. They say it takes 2-3 hours for them to be effective, so when exactly do you take them?

My advice to you is to just try them for a week and see if they work for you. Most of the reviews I’ve seen online say they either worked well or not at all, and that seems to be about 70% (work) and 30% (didn’t work) split.

But some people seem to think that I eat like a horse and don’t gain much compared to the quanity of food I intake. Surprisingly enough – many of these tips are things I’ve done for years. What I probably need to do (according to the tips below) is get regular meal times, and make sure that the food I eat is a healthier balance! I just knew there was a reason I like to eat something before I sent to bed – now I know why!

  • Eat small meals: did you know you can speed up your metabolism by eating 5-6 small meals per day? This way it shrinks up your stomach (because you’re eating less at once), and it speeds up your metabolism (because it has something to digest all the time). I think sometimes people forget that when you diet and eat less, it actually slows your metabolism down – and it takes longer to lose the weight.
  • Use spices often: you know that the better food tastes, the more likely you are to want to eat it. If you’re dieting, don’t eat all bland food, use some spices to liven it up – like cilantro, chili power, cumin, asian 5 spice, italian seasonings, marinate your meat in fat free italian dressing, etcc
  • Lots of Water: You should be ranking the equivalent of about 8-9 regular bottles of water per day. If you don’t drink bottled water, drink it from the tap, if you don’t like that then drink (unsweetened) green or black tea
  • Balanced meals: Make sure your 5-6 meals per day have protein, carbs, and fats (the good ones). You want the good fats in things like olive oil, avacados, almonds, etc. Keep your metabolism going and your insulin and blood sugar regulated.
  • Regular eating times: don’t get out of control and eat whenever you want to. Be sure to eat at the SAME 5-6 mealtimes per day EVERY DAY. Drink water with the mean, and when you eat at the same times per day every day (including just before bed) you keep your body full, and your metabolism going 24 hrs a day!

You may want to try new foods that can incorporate healthier aspects into your diet. This could include eating more fruits and vegetables along with some leaner meats. This can help you incorporate some of the other steps into your daily routine and allow you to be able to have an easier diet experience.

2)  Drink, Drink, Drink
It has been proven that if you drink a lot of water your body will be able to cleanse its self of all waste and unwanted vitamins and minerals. Also, water works in your body as a solvent to help break down vitamins and minerals. A rule of thumb is that you should drink two-thirds of an ounce per pound of body weight a day. Therefore if you weigh 120 pounds you should drink 80 oz of water a day.

3)  Watch Your Fat Intake
It has been proven that the fattier your diet is the more likely you are to gain weight and not have a successful time loosing the desired weight. Tests have proven that a person should not consume any more than 25 percent of their diet form fats and these fats should come from non-saturated fats.

4)  Fiber Works Wonders
By increasing your fiber intake you can help suppress your hunger. The fibrous foods are more filling and cause you to eat less. It is recommended that you eat more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains to achieve this tip.

5)  Don’t Be Too Sweet
Sugar has been associated with an increase calorie consumption. The sugar its self is not as bad for you as what the increased amounts of fat are. However, it can lead to you wanting to eat more do to the crave that you develop something that is sweet. Therefore, the crave that develops can cause you to want to eat more incorporating into your diet.

6)  Portion Control
Don’t only look at what you are eating but the amount as well. If you are eating healthy but you are eating huge amounts you may be defeating the purpose of eating healthy to begin with. Limit the amounts that you are eating to smaller portions. Also, it’s not bad to eat some things that may not be in your diet. However, you have to control yourself and not allow yourself to eat large quantities of those foods.

7)  Don’t Pull The Trigger
Try to avoid trigger foods. These are foods that once you begin to eat them you find it hard to stop. For a lot of people these kinds of foods include potato chips, nuts, and anything that is real salty or sweet. These foods can put a huge roadblock on your diet if you find yourself eating them a lot.

8)  Reward Yourself
If you have a good week and exceed your goal for the week allow yourself to have a little reward whether it is ice cream or a piece of your favorite cake. Just remember as mentioned before, do not allow yourself to binge eat and consume a lot of whatever the reward may be.

These tips can be really helpful and easy to follow to be able to shed off the unwanted pounds. The biggest myth is special exercise that is supposed to reduce your belly, like abdominal crunches etc. Many people have put in much effort and done these exercises religiously only to get frustrated with the lack of the desired results! Maybe you also have been one of them? Fitness and weight loss experts know that you simply can not spot reduce fat with exercises!

Exercise builds muscles!

What exercise does, depends on the type of exercise. Low intensity cardio, where you stay in the aerobic range, is a good fat loss exercise. But it reduces the fat allover the body. High intensity interval training (HIIT) can achieve the same results with a shorter training time (e.g. 20 mins interval training might burn the same calories as 40 min cardio).

Strength training builds muscles depending on what muscle groups you worked on. So what happens when you do hundreds of abdominal crunches or other abdominal exercises? These exercises build muscles! BUT – underneath your abdominal fat layer! And nobody will see these nice muscles!

Nutrition is the key

The best way to lose abdominal fat is to reduce the body fat with diet! Nutrition is the key component here. You have to create a calorie deficit to achieve this. The easiest way to do this is to cut out all sugars and simple carbohydrates and also to reduce complex carbohydrates while eating more protein, which will keep you feeling full. This is how the leanest people get their results – bodybuilders! Generally, they never were my role model (to many muscles for my taste), but when you think about it, they are lean!

Although nutrition is crucial for reducing fat in your body, one also has to make mention of the fact that dieting (eating less calories than you burn) leads to an overall fat loss in the whole body. There is unfortunately no way to only lose abdominal weight. No magic pill and no super food can achieve this! Even worse, the abdominal fat is usually the last one to come off! But maybe that’s why we consider somebody being in perfect shape only when their midsection is slim. Your belly shows if you have made it or if there is still fat left that needs to be covered up!

Conclusions

To lose abdominal weight successfully you need to focus on general nutritionally based fat loss strategies. And if you want ripped abs, you first have to get rid of your belly fat layer, only then building your abdominal muscles with specific exercises makes sense and the acquired muscle mass can be seen. But then you really can show off on the beach!
